"SOURCES FOR THE HISTORY OF NAPLES ARAGONESE"

 

 

The series "Sources for the history of Naples Aragonese", direct to the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies by Professor. Mario and published by the publisher of Treppo Carlone (today Laveglia & Carlone), is divided into three series, dedicated respectively to the first two matches of ambassadors Milan (1444-1465) and Florence (1484-1494) residents in Naples, and the third – recently inaugurata – sources monographic.

Dealing with the scientific coordination of the first series Senator Francis and Francesco Storti (associate professor and researcher at the University of “Federico II” of Naples), the second Bruno Son (professor at the University of Udine), the third Senator Francesco Bruno and Son.

The necklace, presented by Prof.. Del Treppo in 1987 (Aragonese Naples in the correspondence of ambassadors from Milan and Florence, in The Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies and the School in Naples, special issue, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Institute, "The Provincia di Napoli", IX 1987, n. 3/4, pp. 47-48), was inaugurated in 1997 and to date have been published 11 volumes.

The aim of the series is to increase knowledge about the kingdom and the city of Naples, on the king and his court during the Aragonese period. In particular, the diplomatic correspondence are a source of absolute importance for the amount, quality and variety of news they contain, which can to some extent compensate for the lack of documentary sources of the period following the terrible destruction of the oldest funds of the State Archives of Naples in the fire in Villa Montesano in San Paolo Belsito in September 1943.

The funding initiative has been secured over the years from 'Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies – through the purchase of microfilm, the provision of scholarships and printing volumes -, the Province of Naples and the Department of History “And. Lepore” University of Naples.

The series has received a very positive, earning reviews in prestigious national and international journals, to say nothing of citations applicants in specialized bibliography, among which we can mention for example that present in the assay Corrado Vivanti published in vol. XIX of the Annals of the History of Italian Einaudi (2002).

The initiative has had a considerable impact scientific and derived from it are numerous essays and monographs by the members of the working group, some of which (in particular Scarton, Senator, Storti), under the guidance of Prof.. Del Treppo, were formed to search historical right in the course of this edition documentary.
